Child Dedications
Each child is a gift from God, and we believe that commiting to raise a child with God's direction is a significant parental decision. Several times a year, we give parents the opportunity to dedicate their children publicly during a weekend service. During this event, a Vineyard Church Pastor will annoint the child with oil and pray for the child and his/her parents.
There are four things we ask our parents to commit to when dedicating their child.
- recognize their child is a gift from God
- commit to living a life that is pleasing to God to give their child an example to follow
- commit to giving their child the opportunity to hear the Gospel so that he or she might have a personal relationship with Jesus
- commit to seek God and follow His ways when it comes to raising their child
Child dedication is not the same as infant baptism; we believe that baptism is a public statement of faith that can be made only by someone who has personally believed in Jesus. For more about water baptism, please click here.
